Since its formation two years ago, Dorset's first shooting organisation "run by girls, for girls" has gone from strength to strength. The original committee of four local keen female shots, identified a real need for a new group dedicated to getting more ladies shooting and The Dorset Game Birds was formed. The founding principle was to build a network of like-minded female guns, which could meet up at various events make up teams in competition shoots and enjoy themselves.
Membership has continued to grow and a packed list of activities include regular Clay Pigeon shooting, game days, rifle shooting at the pink picnic, discounted shooting at Purbeck Shooting School plus many social activities, including the famous "Twitchy Fingers" weekend.
To celebrate the Dorset Game Birds second birthday, a new gundog training section has been launched. This includes an introduction to professional training for both handler and canine companion and the chance to go beating, so this will appeal to not only ladies that shoot, but those who would rather just work their dogs.
The Dorset Game Birds emphasis is on having fun and making new friends and we welcome new female members of any age or experience level.
